Liverpool U23s are back in action on Friday evening - and, if their season so far is anything to go by, their meeting with Newcastle United won't be short of goals or entertainment.

To date in 2017-18, Neil Critchley's side have won nine of their 12 fixtures, scoring 29 times in the process.

They average exactly two goals per game in Premier League 2 - a division they lead by two points from Everton - and head into Friday's Premier League International Cup tie with Newcastle on the back of a ruthless seven-goal demolition of Bristol City last weekend.

All the goals from LFC U23s 7-0 Bristol City

Danny Ings scored four and registered two assists in that Premier League Cup rout of the Robins, while Harry Wilson increased his goal tally to nine in nine U23s appearances this term.

That comprehensive win moved the young Reds to top spot in PL Cup Group E ahead of their encounter with second-placed Stoke City on December 3.

The mouth-watering prospect of a first PL2 mini-derby of the season awaits next weekend, with Everton visiting Prenton Park on Saturday November 18.

But before then, Critchley's team will be eager to progress past the Magpies in the PL International Cup - and you can watch them attempt to do so live on LFCTV and LFCTV GO (7pm GMT kick-off).
