Adam Lallana was a second-half substitute as England went down to a 3-2 defeat to France in an entertaining international friendly in Paris on Tuesday night.

The Liverpool playmaker played the final 14 minutes at the Stade de France after replacing Kieran Trippier.

England took an early lead against the hosts courtesy of Harry Kane’s close-range finish, but went into the break 2-1 behind after strikes from Samuel Umtiti and Djibril Sidibe.

The Three Lions were presented with an opportunity to draw level moments into the second period when Dele Alli went to ground under a challenge from Raphael Varane, which resulted in a red card for Les Bleus’ defender and a penalty, which was successfully converted by Kane.

However, despite their numerical advantage, England suffered defeat when Ousmane Dembele found the net with 11 minutes left to play of normal time.
