Sadio Mane insists Liverpool's confidence in the Champions League should not be dented by the 2-2 draw with Sevilla on Wednesday night.

With more than three-quarters of the tie at Anfield played, the Reds were on course for victory after Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah overturned an early concession.

The Spanish side secured a point when Joaquin Correa broke through and hit the target in the second half, however.

But with five matchdays remaining in Group E, Mane’s belief in his team’s capabilities is undiminished.

“We have to be positive – it’s the first game,” the No.19, who will not feature again until Liverpool’s second Champions League fixture at Spartak Moscow due to a domestic ban, told ITV.

“We have everything to qualify. We’ll prepare for the next game and why not win all [of the rest]? We have a great team and great quality in the team.”

Jürgen Klopp’s men certainly showed their attacking prowess after falling behind to Sevilla, and would have extended their lead had Firmino’s penalty – won by Mane – not hit the post.

The Senegal international echoed the comments of several teammates in suggesting that Liverpool merited more than a point, though retained his positive outlook for the campaign ahead.

“I think we deserved to win. We created many chances and scored two goals,” he added.

“At 2-1 it was done, but at 2-2 the game became more difficult. Sevilla are one of the big teams in Spain. We have to work hard and prepare for the next games.”
