Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is attracted to the idea of working with Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool as he weighs up his Arsenal future.

The England international has 12 months remaining on his current terms at The Emirates Stadium but the prospect of potentially moving to Merseyside has given him something to consider.

Klopp, the Liverpool manager, will have to reinforce his squad significantly this summer given that they will be playing in Europe next season and he has an interest in the versatile Oxlade-Chamberlain. His name is on an extensive list of potential targets.

Arsenal are prepared to put Oxlade-Chamberlain in the bracket of their £100,000-a-week performers and talks on a new five-year deal are likely to start once the current campaign ends after the FA Cup final on May 27.

The club’s position on delaying discussions with Oxlade-Chamberlain, however, is different to Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. They also have 12 months left on their terms but negotiations on extensions have started.

Another factor which Oxlade-Chamberlain is mulling over is how he will continue to develop if Arsene Wenger stays at The Emirates Stadium and it could be that the prospect of working with Klopp, who has different ideas on how the game is played, will revive him.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, 23, is friends with several of Liverpool’s England players and Klopp has received positive bulletins about his versatility and application. Another issue is likely to be whether Arsenal would sell to one of their rivals.
